How to get rid of voices in your head, 5 tips

Voices in your head - should you sound the alarm?

  • What sounds in your head?
  • Interesting facts about voices

Auditory hallucinations affect not only our contemporaries living in harsh stressful conditions.
This phenomenon has been familiar to people since ancient times. It used to be believed that a person who hears voices in their head has incredible intuition and prophetic abilities. Even now, some parapsychologists adhere to the same opinion, but today there is not a single scientific proof of this theory.

But mental and nervous disorders, which almost always deal with different types of hallucinations, are precisely related to the problem.

What sounds in your head?

Voice hallucinations are always a pathology, no matter what the cause. The patient is able to hear sounds of a wide variety of nature:

  1. verbal type - stories, threats, calls, warnings, memories, singing, obscene screams, whistling, breathing (they can be reproduced either in a single voice or in a whole choir).
  2. non-verbal type - clicks, sounds of kisses, rumbles, alarms, music, clinking of dishes and more (such sounds have different volumes and saturation).

Before treating a phenomenon, it is necessary to accurately identify its cause and make a clinical analysis of the content of all internal sounds. What might sound in your head?

Mental disordersIn particular, these are depressive, manic psychoses, Alzheimer's disease and paranoid schizophrenia, in which 70% of patients have dialogues and monologues in their heads. It often seems to a schizophrenic that some kind of heavenly blessing has descended on him, and it dictates to him what to do and what to say. No matter how a schizophrenic behaves, he is always potentially dangerous. And if today his loved ones are touched by the way he talks about the angelic voice inside his head, then tomorrow the same voice can give him the command to jump out of the window, kill, beat, break, go to another city. It is not worth even mentioning that mental disorders require mandatory treatment.
Severe depressionPatients suffering from major depression often hear voices in their heads when falling asleep, calling their name. This may indicate that depressive psychosis is developing and urgent help is needed.
Side effects of certain medicationsSome VSDs and neurotics, depressive patients who have never experienced hallucinations before may experience this phenomenon during treatment with psychotropic drugs. Often the symptom occurs when the patient is in a relaxed state. There are cases when, in the first week of antidepressant therapy, the patient began to hear voices in his head before going to bed: the heart-rending scream of a woman, the sound of gunfire, calling his name. Such phenomena, as a rule, are organically safe, but can greatly undermine a person’s psychological state and force him to refuse treatment.
Neurosis, nervous fatigueWhen the nervous system is in an “inflamed state,” surrounding sounds can be distorted beyond recognition. Also, a person may suddenly begin to hear his own thoughts as if someone inside was speaking them out loud. The haunting motif of the song can sound quietly as in real mode. If at the same time a person also suffers from insomnia and does not follow a sleep and rest schedule, he can switch off (fall asleep) for 1-2 seconds right on the move. In this case, sound signals or voices often appear that are part of the dream that has begun. The patient, not realizing that he was sleeping during these seconds, worries about auditory illusions, not knowing what to associate them with. Sometimes, to eliminate this phenomenon, just getting a good night's sleep is enough.

Even if a person is completely healthy, the syndrome in the head shows that his psyche is in a shattered state and will probably soon turn into illness.

Interesting facts about voices

Experts who have studied voices in the head have come to interesting conclusions:

  • Psychological traumas of childhood most often become the cause of any form of auditory hallucinations: from schizophrenic to neurotic. At the same time, it always seems to a person that the voices carry evil, negativity, and that they are endowed with enormous power and authority (association with adult offenders).
  • People with an inferiority complex always have an extremely negative attitude towards auditory hallucinations.
  • Very often a person begins to hear strange sounds after being in a quiet, dark room for a long time.
  • There is a special area in the brain that is highly activated during auditory illusions. It's called Broca's area. If the patient does not hear internal sounds, Broca's area behaves calmer, and it does not matter whether external sounds are heard or whether the patient himself speaks.

Today in the world there is even a special community of people who hear voices. It encourages its participants to find positive aspects in these sounds and not become depressed.

Voices in my head: what to do if I hear voices and what are the reasons

I’m tossing from side to side in bed, tired from the buzzing of thoughts in my head, from an aimlessly lived day and suffering from insomnia for a long time... A light breeze takes over my consciousness, and the buzzing of thoughts in my head also falls silent. A long-awaited dream...

Suddenly, at the most peaceful moment, a very distinct and sudden male voice calls me by name and asks something.

"A?! What?!" - I jump up in horror. The body is shaking, the heart is jumping out of the chest. I don’t understand what’s happening... Sticky sweat glued me to the wrinkled sheet. This happens every night. Scary to go to bed. It’s hard to deliberately delay sleep time because of the fear of sudden, incomprehensible things. It frightens, it’s stressful, it doesn’t give you peace.

Feeling crazy

I was one of those people who was able to “talk to people” without opening my mouth. It is not even necessary that the interlocutors themselves be present. I talked to them in my head. Sometimes they spoke on their own without my “invitation.”

I had the "ability" to play music without actually playing it. She's in my head. Now the classical music is circling on a grand scale, now the rock is screaming and rumbling. The chaotic mixture of internal dialogues mixed with music caused terrible discomfort. This made my head feel heavy and buzzing, as if there was a swarm of voiced thoughts in my head.

Strange things were happening in my apartment. From time to time rustling sounds or sounds of falling dishes and the creaking of a door were heard. Or a loud male voice might call me from the kitchen. When I came to the kitchen, the voice called again, but from the room...

At some point I realized that I was hearing voices in my head. The sounds and voices were so realistic that they were frightening. My mind refused to believe it, but the increasing frequency of cases with polyphony in my head forced me to figure out what was happening. And the more I thought about extermination, the louder and more intense the endless dialogues were scrolling inside.

At night I had dreams. Noisy, mocking, booming. I heard voices and indistinct echoing accompaniment. Half asleep, it was unclear where reality was and where the dream was.

Voice hallucinations

I asked some close friends if they had such conditions. I tried to calm myself down, thinking that every normal person hears something like this and there is nothing unusual about it. After asking a couple of friends, I realized: I was hearing voices alone. And I can’t find a person in the world who will understand me and say: “I am like that myself,” and tell me the secret truth of the emergence.

It became difficult to talk to people. As soon as I asked a question to my interlocutor, I immediately stopped hearing the answer: the internal dialogue resumed and gave absolutely no chance to concentrate.

The person speaks and answers me, and at this time I look through him and have been conducting an internal conversation for a long time. Sometimes an attentive interlocutor saw my indifference, my disconnection from the conversation, and happily retreated.

Who would like to communicate with a person who does not listen to you. The reasons for my acquaintances to avoid me are obvious. Have excellent hearing and not hear people. This caused me great internal contradictions. Hearing voices in your head, but not real people.

I hear voices in my head: what to do?

Telling someone, asking for advice about hearing voices is the same as admitting that you are stupid. It’s the same as saying: “I’m weird, I hear voices. Don't avoid me, please. I just got a little crazy!”

Day after day, hundreds of dialogues were scrolling through my head, many of them actually sounded. I even answered out loud the questions that were asked to me. From the outside it looked like a dialogue without one interlocutor. But what about it? I have to answer the questions that have arisen - after all, they ask me...

It is well known that those who talk to themselves and hear voices are included in the “lists” of crazy people. In any case, their heads are definitely not right. I am sick - mentally ill - the only thing that arose and became fixed in my understanding.

I hear voices in my head, what should I do if I have no one to ask because of fear... Psychiatry textbooks do not answer my question about voices, causes and methods of getting rid of them.

Doctor, help!

My appearance at the psychiatrist's appointment was an encouraging fact in my story. From my words, he wrote down in “complaints”: apathy, depression, insomnia followed by prolonged sleep, panic states, voices in the head, irritability. We bought pills, which the doctor carefully prescribed. Medicines with three different names were supposed to help me.

After two weeks there was no improvement, and after a month too. To the listed state was added even greater indifference to what was happening to me.

I wanted to sleep more, I had neither the strength nor the desire to wake up. Daily state of weakness, sleepy existence, unwillingness to eat.

Inability to concentrate on simple actions, memory impairment, body weakness and lack of emotion.

I didn’t stop hearing voices; on the contrary, loud and arguing conversations appeared in my head. The moments became more frequent when I covered my ears with my hands and, pressing them, tried to cut off the endless voices mixed with thoughts. The meaning of life in an exhausted, depressed state began to disappear. Why live if it’s so long, painful and bad from hopelessness?

Voices in the head: there are reasons and there are answers

One day, quite by accident, one of my acquaintances told me about System-Vector Psychology by Yuri Burlan. About the knowledge that gave him great discoveries in self-knowledge, allowed him to understand what the human unconscious means. He said that by understanding the unconscious, we automatically find answers to our questions and understand the reasons for any human condition.

Just what I need! An hour later I was already reading articles on Yuri Burlan’s portal, and after another two weeks I was sitting in front of the monitor, waiting for the online lecture to start.

Having attended a training session on system-vector psychology by Yuri Burlan, I listened carefully to the words of the lecturer. Gradually the voices died down, my own thoughts calmed down. A different thinking process began to appear, a clear, clear algorithm of necessary actions to return to normal life appeared in my head.

Not every person will be able to imagine what my relief was after so much torment, wandering, attempts to escape from, when Yuri Burlan explained in simple human language the reasons and way out of the unfortunate situation in a matter of hours.

Sound vector. It was he who made us suffer, walk on the edge of life. And now it gives a previously unknown pleasure from fulfillment—realization.

Sound people are people with abstract thinking and keen hearing. They, like no one else, are able to listen to the subtle, varied sounds of the tones of music, the meanings of words, and the intonations of sound.

Understanding themselves and life around them is necessary for them like air. And it is not by chance that they were created this way; they are needed to occupy their niche in society. Voices can arise when the pain of the traumatized psyche of a sound artist deprives him of the ability to concentrate on the world outside.

Instead of a thousand meanings

It was not difficult to recognize oneself and understand the states of the unrealized sound vector. Yuri Burlan clearly articulated the cause-and-effect relationship from the root cause to the very end.

The reasons and origin of what was heard became clear. I understood why there was a need for many hours of sleep, which caused insomnia and apathy. Why did I get irritated by loud sounds and noise?

The secrets of real depression have been revealed.

I understood a lot. The urgent task of a sound artist lies in his natural ability to focus on the thought process, knowledge of himself, his role in this life, the essence of the existence of all living things. Potentially, such people, with proper fruitful development, can be talented musicians, scientists, physicists, philosophers, surgeons, and teachers of higher mathematics.

In the head, the reasons lie only in the opposite use of abstract intelligence. Involuntarily (but always) a person with a sound vector seeks the meaning of life, tries to cognize and comprehend the root cause of the Universe.

Involuntarily, as if thinking “inwardly”, obsessing over his thoughts, he believes that he is about to stumble upon the answers. And he doesn’t find it. Not today, not tomorrow, not in a few years. The sound guy simply doesn’t know that the answer is out there.

At the training on system-vector psychology by Yuri Burlan, sound people reveal what they were looking for and become able to restore lost concentration from the outside. And the voices go away. Both depression and suicidal thoughts go away.

Today I have neither internal annoying dialogues nor... They are gone forever. Sleep is normal and sufficient. The energy to live and do things appeared. There is no room for apathy. We managed to find the field of activity that fills the voids of the sound vector and gives impetus to mental work. Which, by the way, brings great, indescribable pleasure. Finally, I live.

Whatever worries you, give yourself a chance, come to free online training on system-vector psychology by Yuri Burlan. Register using the link.

Oh that voice in my head

A healthy person easily draws a line between his own personality and other people. But there are also “system failures” when the inner voice, which essentially represents our thoughts, is drowned out by the voices of others, which, nevertheless, are also part of our consciousness. How to explain this?

Patients with schizophrenia often complain about other people's voices in their heads, which can demand, threaten, intimidate and even instill in a person thoughts that often contradict his values and habitual behavior patterns.

Strangers in the heads of patients with schizophrenia invade their consciousness, deceive, subjugate their will, and can push them to commit suicide or murder. All this seems mystical if you do not study the nature of such a phenomenon as inner speech.

Still from the film “Shutter Island”

Our inner voice and speech apparatus

Can I get by without me, or about learned helplessness

Our brain is designed in such a way that when we imagine some action, the same parts of it are activated as in the situation when we perform this action in reality.

Athletes, especially during those difficult periods when they are unable to train hard due to injury, use this brain power to ensure they do not lose the skills they have developed through hard physical labor.

In fact, they replace physical exercise with mental exercise.

It has been experimentally proven that the “power of thought” allows you, if not to improve, then at least to maintain physical fitness.

The neural connections responsible for this or that type of activity will be preserved, and the skills will not be lost; for this you just need to imagine the execution of a specific action in detail.

But even if we do not set out to maintain our skills by giving ourselves mental training, our brain sends signals to the muscles if the thought is indirectly related to the need to make any movement. It’s just that the muscles don’t tense as much as if we firmly decided to move.

Our speech apparatus also consists of muscles. If you decide to say something out loud, a signal is sent from the frontal lobe to the temporal lobe, which is responsible for speech, as well as to the motor cortex, which regulates muscle movements. The electrical signal then goes to the larynx, after which the muscles of the lips and tongue are activated.

But it turns out that we are almost never silent. Our inner voice, that is, our mental speech, is subject to the same principles that were mentioned when describing mental training.

Still from the film “Lilith”

Poles of temperament: introverts and extroverts

When thoughts arise in your head, the muscles of the speech apparatus begin to contract, but not as much as when pronouncing words out loud. This can be easily verified using electromyography.

Electrodes are connected to the internal muscles of the larynx, so the electrical activity of muscle cells can be recorded.

Activity can also be detected when a person conducts his internal monologue without making a sound.

At the initial stages of studying the phenomenon of inner speech, scientists even hypothesized that thinking is one of its types. However, they later found out that patients with speech muscle paralysis are very capable of thinking.

In fact, our thoughts can be read in the literal sense of the word, and this does not require any extrasensory abilities, which not very honest citizens often like to shout about. If you connect a microphone to the speech apparatus and amplify the sound, you can hear a quiet whisper - the “voice-over” of our thoughts.

But what does the phenomenon of inner speech have to do with patients with schizophrenia?

When monologues become polylogues...

Voices in my head and system failure

Test: what do you know about psychology?

Patients with schizophrenia often hear voices and conduct dialogues with people in their heads, being firmly convinced that these voices are not in their heads at all, but come from outside. Of course, the voices in their heads are their own voices. But why are schizophrenics unable to understand that the voices they hear are just a figment of their imagination?

Mathematics and Madness: The John Nash Story

To understand why this happens, it’s worth looking at how our brain generally works to recognize our own and others’ voices. Eliezer Sternberg gives the example of how the brain of electric fish, mormyrids, works.

Mormyrids communicate with each other using electrical signals. Emitting an electrical signal, they wait until it is reflected from obstacles in order to receive a return signal and thus orient themselves in space using electroreceptors.

Approximately the same principle is used in the operation of submarine sonars.

Male mormyrids have a difficult life: in order to attract a female, they need to select a signal of a specific frequency. Each of the females “pecks” only at a certain frequency. Reminds me of human relationships, doesn’t it? And this is not all that unites us.

When the fish's brain sends a signal, it not only sends a command to the electrical organ, but also sends a copy of it to the sensory system so that it knows that the signal was emitted by the fish itself, and understands what to expect next. The sensory system's prediction of what the command will be is called a concomitant discharge.

When the electrical signal has already been emitted, the brain compares this prediction with the real signal, and if they are equal in shape and strength, then it is considered by the fish as its own. If the accompanying discharge and the emitted signal do not coincide, then for the fish this will already be a message from another fish.

The accompanying discharge system allows both mormyrid fish and us humans to distinguish our own signals from others.

The brain works clearly, like a computer, and it is not difficult for us to understand when we are speaking and when another person is saying something. But sometimes the system fails.

Elephant fish, order Mormyrida - weakly electric fish.

The case of alien voices in the head of patients with schizophrenia is a good illustration of such a malfunction. The defect lies in the signal matching system.

The message that there is a match between the emitted signal and the accompanying discharge is simply blocked, and the brain produces a mismatch instead. This means that a schizophrenic already perceives his voice as someone else’s.

The thoughts in his head and his inner speech are defined as a signal from the outside. Hence the variety of personalities with which the patient, according to his own stories, can deal.

Much more interesting is the fact that deaf schizophrenics can also experience auditory hallucinations and complain that they HEAR voices. At the same time, the voices, of course, are strangers, not our own.

This once again proves that their inner speech is interpreted by the brain as a set of foreign signals. After all, deaf schizophrenics are not able to describe acoustic features.

They cannot remember the frequency, volume, or timbre that they supposedly hear.

Still from the film “Clean, Shaved”

Is the form of the message so important?

Inner speech is that universal thing that distinguishes a person’s consciousness, regardless of whether he is blind, deaf or dumb.

When a blind person hears someone talking to him and a deaf person sees something shown to him in sign language, the same speech areas of the brain are activated. They also help to comprehend the message.

Therefore, the form of the message is not so important; the brain is able to adapt to situations and process the signal.

And our internal speech is, perhaps, one of those languages that many globalizers dream of: it is universal in the sense that it can exist in almost any form, the only important thing is that the signal enters the brain and is processed, and that a person can think.

The phenomenon of inner speech still requires further study, but what scientists have already managed to find out about this phenomenon has become a big step forward in unraveling the nature of human consciousness. Is this mysticism now - the ability to read other people's thoughts?

Why do we listen to the wrong voices?

The inner voice reflects our identity and is a combination of personal and social factors - everything that we have inherited and developed in ourselves. We can't shake how other people's voices have affected us. But we can choose to listen to them or not.

Our world is social. From the moment we are born, we interact with others and these interactions shape our internal dialogue. Praise or rejection become its basis. Other people's voices turn into noise in our heads.

Criticism and lack of understanding become a mirror of low self-esteem. Praise gives rise to the idea of your own uniqueness and permissiveness or, conversely, leads to a constant thirst for recognition, even if you have already achieved a lot.

The voices in our heads are not just ours - other people's opinions have hacked our thoughts. Whether we like it or not, we listen to the opinions of others, even when they contradict our instincts.

And that’s why it’s so important to learn to pay attention to our true inner voice. But don't abuse it.

Voices in my head, what to do?

Auditory hallucinations are a fairly common symptom in mentally ill people. Voices in your head can appear at any time. For some they run in the background all the time.

Some people experience attacks with a certain frequency.

When auditory hallucinations occur, a person can hear various sounds, rustling clicks, the sound of steps, dull sounds of a ball falling to the floor, a child crying, conversations and discussions that do not exist in reality.

Less commonly, auditory hallucinations are combined with visual ones, when voices and pictures or visions appear in the head.

Character can be extremely different. The voice can be female or male, or it can be completely incomprehensible to a person. There may be several voices in your head. They can talk about their own things, or they can discuss the patient. The discussions are also extremely diverse.

What are the types of auditory hallucinations?

The voices in your head can praise, or on the contrary, they can scold. Calling people obscene names. Sometimes whole dialogues can happen in your head. Voices can order, force, or do something.

Often the patient is unable to resist their pressure, which can lead to socially dangerous acts. Voices in your head may tell you to hurt yourself or someone else. The patient's behavior becomes unpredictable.

Voices that sound in a person's head are perceived as real.

Due to the lack of understanding of the presence of a severe mental symptom in the head, the patient is unlikely to seek help from a doctor on his own.

Most often, auditory hallucinations occur in schizophrenia, as part of the paranoid syndrome. However, voices can be a manifestation of an organic brain disease, a tumor. When using certain types of drugs, auditory hallucinations occur. When the nervous system is exhausted, after a long load. Some drugs can cause hallucinations like this as a side effect.

There are hallucinations that a person sees when a person falls asleep or, on the contrary, wakes up (hypnogogic and hypnopompic). Such hallucinations are usually considered normal. They occur against the background of severe exhaustion of the nervous system or the use of psychoactive substances.

Diagnosis of hallucinations

When diagnosing schizophrenia, otolaryngological diseases and diseases associated with central nervous system damage should be excluded, as well as possible use of psychoactive substances.

If hallucinations are identified promptly and correctly, the necessary effective therapy can be quickly selected, thus saving the person from the disease.

Voice over radio[edit]

A subtype of cliche from high-tech computer games with the difference that the speaker is usually a real... well, like a person, yes. Or he wants to seem like one. Or he doesn’t want to appear. In any case, the protagonist always does what the voices on the radio say, otherwise he will not advance in the plot and will not go far from the location. In BioShock, the idea was deconstructed - the protagonist was naturally zombified to carry out any commands that began with “be kind.” Kindly cause a plane crash, kill a bunch of people and shoot yourself in the head!

Even more fun when the voice from the walkie-talkie belongs to SHODAN. In any case, if a character does everything that the walkie-talkie tells him, then he either serves in the army, or in special forces, or in a corporation, or in another structure with strict subordination, or is mentally insane, or is simply a good person who does not leave anyone in trouble. little girls, disabled people and other good people. Well, or he just has nothing better to do, and he also has balls of steel and a big gun.

Voices in my head what to do, is it schizophrenia

Most doctors call voices in the head schizophrenia. But is it? What to do?

How traditional medicine treats headaches

Mainly medications. And what result do we see? Temporary relief of symptoms. And then what? Accumulation of new phobias, spiritual and mental disharmony. Who does this treatment help? A few or no one. This can be seen in the people who come to us from psychotherapists. They are given a general diagnosis of schizophrenia. This is a misdiagnosis.

This is why traditional medicine has such disastrous results. None of the doctors considers the spiritual world as the cause. They simply don't believe in its existence. It is easier to make a theoretical diagnosis of schizophrenia and refer the person to a psychiatric clinic, give him a disability group and prescribe medications that cause exacerbation or temporary imaginary relief.

They hear voices in their heads. Nobody knows why.

Symptoms of panic attacks.

What voices do people hear in their heads?

Male or female. Familiar or not. Simple communication or threats. Often voices in their heads direct people to specific actions. Voices can command, intimidate, or sing sweetly. This is the same thing, since freedom and protection are violated.

A person may consider himself spiritually developed (not understanding intentions) or prone to suicide or murder (not having the support and understanding of others). This is also one. Good intentions or evil - One effect. Manipulation of consciousness from the outside. A person becomes a doll that is played by spiritual beings from the spiritual dimension.

It sounds offensive, but once you understand this, the manipulation will gradually fade away. This is your motivation to cut ties with them. To do this, you will have to use all your will in order to be more conscious all day long. Awareness will dissolve automatic reactions that caused uncontrollable feelings, emotions, fear, anger. All the main things the game was played on.

At the same time, working with a strong specialist, he will be able to cut ties and restore protection. Unfortunately, there are not many strong specialists; it takes an excellent nose and luck to find a savior. There are a lot of scammers among doctors and healers. Understand the main thing, this is all an illusion. This doesn't really exist.

It seems to you that this is very real, but it is not. This is not the case. This is a game of the mind, understand this means you are on the path to purity. Don't believe in anything that your mind doesn't tell you. Don't give a single drop to illusions. Dry up the stream, ignore everything and convince yourself that it doesn’t exist. Don't expect quick results, just do the job of a person.

You have hypnotized yourself with nonsense, now unhypnotize yourself. Next comes the old text, you can read it, or you can understand it from these few sentences. Healing sessions help dry up the stream and push you towards the exit. You decide!!!

People are confused, they are not understood, they are not believed, they are afraid, they are called names of erroneous diagnoses. There are a great many people who come to us for help, having felt the irresponsibility and failure of doctors (almost every patient has tried the medical approach, the limitations of official medicine).

In fact, such people need to find an understanding person. One that knows about the voices in your head. There are not many such knowledgeable people in the world. Because the root of the problem is in the spiritual dimension. Doctors reject the spiritual dimension. They are treating the investigation.

That’s why this is the case with mental illness and more.

Unconventional treatment of Shaman Alex.

Voices in my head what to do

The shaman sees the process of such diseases. Not theoretically, but with your spiritual vision. He sees the causes of illness and that they are not subject to inference and conceptual conclusions. Mental illnesses and disorders are the specialty of shamanic healers. Having removed the root of the disease, the person is free. For shamans, spiritual reality is inseparable from the physical world.

How do other voices create noise in your head?

External voices manipulate you. Whether you realize it or not, they influence the way you talk to yourself.

Robert Cialdini, author of the famous “Psychology of Influence,” described six principles of persuasion that can be used to influence others. These principles can be just as effectively used to understand how others can influence you.

If you consider a person to be a professional or an expert, you are more likely to listen to their advice (authority). Your friend or loved one is also more likely to be given the opportunity to speak (liking). What is popular and trending becomes a significant factor in decision making (consensus). And you will readily listen to the one who listened to you (reciprocity). The likelihood of keeping a promise made publicly is much higher (commitment) than one made to oneself. And the opportunity to get something unique and exclusive always motivates you to make a decision faster (scarcity).

Having said that, most people are not trying to manipulate you on purpose. But awareness of these principles increases self-reflection. We are social creatures and listening to what others say comes naturally to us. But don't let other voices become yours.
