Compound

Novopassita

more difficult than

Persena

, it contains plant extracts of valerian, lemon balm, mint, hawthorn, passionflower, elderberry, as well as a light anxiolytic - guaifenesin.

Therefore, the list of indications for its use is wider than that of Persen. Novo-passit is prescribed in the complex treatment of anxiety conditions, neurasthenia, irritable bowel syndrome, and neurocirculatory dystonia.

Medicines differ in the main active ingredient; if Persen is a complex of natural plant substances, then Afobazol is a synthetic drug containing a chemical compound - fabomotizol.

Therefore, Persen belongs to the group of sedatives of plant origin, and Afobazol belongs to anxiolytics - substances that improve nervous regulation of the processes of excitation and inhibition.

On practice

Persen

has proven itself well as a means of combating neuropsychic disorders that occur when the nervous system is overstrained, and

Afobazole

has shown its effectiveness in the treatment of emotional disorders that appear against the background of somatic diseases and chronic neuroses.

When choosing Afobazole or Persen as a sedative, it is necessary, first of all, to focus on the nature of the disease and patient tolerance of the drugs. Some people benefit better from a natural combination of herbs, others from an anxiolytic drug.

In any case, you should consult your doctor before starting therapy.

When prescribing sedatives, doctors also focus on the patients’ life circumstances; Persen and Novo-Passit are not recommended for long-term treatment for people whose activities involve increased concentration (driving, scientific research, etc.). In such cases, Afobazole or Tenoten are more suitable for the treatment of nervous disorders.

Also, only anxiolytics help reduce nervous tension when fighting alcoholism, drug addiction and smoking, since, unlike sedative herbal preparations, they do not increase the effects of alcohol, nicotine and drugs on the body.

Available without a prescription.

Approximate prices for Persen: 20 tablets – 211–277 rubles, 40 tablets – 339–455 rubles, 60 tablets – 430–540 rubles.

Mechanism of pharmacological action

The therapeutic effects of Persen are due to the active ingredients included in its composition.

  1. Valerian rhizome extract contains organic acids, tannins and essential oils. These components have an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system and reduce nervous excitation. As a result, the level of anxiety decreases and the process of falling asleep becomes easier. In addition, valerian has an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of most internal organs.
  2. Melissa extract contains flavonoids and essential oils. It has a weak sedative, antidepressant and anxiolytic effect on the nervous system. Melissa also has an antispasmodic effect, strengthens immune defense, increasing antiviral immunity.
  3. Peppermint has a calming effect and helps dilate blood vessels in the brain, heart and lungs. Other effects of mint include antiemetic, antispasmodic and choleretic.

Indications for use

The drug Persen is used to relieve conditions accompanied by excitability of the nervous system.

Indications for prescribing tablets are the following conditions:

  • Increased nervous excitability due to acute or chronic stress.
  • High fatigue and decreased concentration.
  • Irritability and nervousness.
  • Neurasthenia.
  • Insomnia.

  • Complex therapy of severe neuroses at the stage of recovery and withdrawal of psychotropic drugs.

At the same time, a course of complex treatment using Persen will reduce nervous excitability and reduce the frequency of panic attacks.

During treatment with Persen it is not recommended to use alcoholic beverages, because this often leads to unwanted effects.

During therapy, you should refrain from driving a car and performing work that requires high concentration.

The drug has a depressant effect on the central nervous system, which prevents it from reacting quickly when necessary.

Compound similarities

The similar medicinal properties of drugs are due to their composition. The presence of 2 main common components gives an almost identical effect when treated with drugs.

Valerian extract has a diverse effect on the body. As a result of its use, positive changes occur in the functioning of many organs and systems:

  • Digestion is improved, the functioning of the intestinal tract is normalized, bile secretion increases;
  • blood vessels dilate, cardiac activity improves;
  • emotional balance is restored, the level of worry and anxiety is reduced, and performance increases.

Melissa extract relieves spasms and has a stimulating effect on brain function. The calming effect of the herb on the body leads to the elimination of headaches and migraines, and normalization of sleep.

Differences between Novopassit and Persen

Some differences in the characteristics of medicinal substances are also due to their composition.

The effect of Novopassit is stronger. It has a wider range of therapeutic qualities, because... it contains additional plant substances:

  1. Common hops. Refers to antispasmodic and hypnotic herbal remedies. Helps improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system.
  2. St. John's wort. Gives antidepressant and anxiolytic effects. Under its influence, nervous tension is eliminated, the emotional background increases, and mental stability increases.
  3. Hawthorn. Helps improve blood circulation in the heart muscle. Reduces blood pressure and has a mild sedative effect.
  4. Black elderberry flowers. Provides diuretic and analgesic effects.
  5. Passionflower herb. Has a moderate sedative effect.

Persen's composition includes peppermint, which is used not only as a sedative, but also to provide a choleretic effect. In this regard, the drug has additional contraindications for use.

It is not recommended for use in urolithiasis. The disease is characterized by the formation of stones in the bile ducts. Eating peppermint can cause stones to block the ducts.

Use Persen with caution for peptic ulcers and esophagitis.

The drugs also differ in price. The cost of Novopassit is higher.

Which is better - Novopassit or Persen

Each of the medications has an effective sedative effect on the body and helps eliminate disturbing symptoms.

Each of the medications has an effective sedative effect on the body and helps eliminate disturbing symptoms.

Reviews from doctors

Valery (therapist), 43 years old, Moscow

The sedatives Novopassit and Persen, which have natural ingredients in their composition, are practically safe for health. They effectively reduce the excitability of the nervous system and eliminate spasms in muscles and organs.

Olesya (neurologist), 47 years old, Ufa

There is a positive effect of these drugs on the heart and normalization of sleep. During treatment, the balance of excitation and inhibition processes in the body improves. But at the same time, it is necessary to comply with all medical recommendations, because Even as a result of using natural medicines, side effects may develop.

Patient reviews of Novopassit and Persen

Larisa, 46 years old, Saransk

Novopassit is in the medicine cabinets of many of my friends and relatives. The product is natural and helps well with stressful situations and sleep problems. It has a gentle effect on the body, but the effect of taking it is short-lived.

Some friends note that the drug is rather weak, so you should not count on it if you have severe neuroses and disorders of the nervous system.

Kristina, 29 years old, Perm

I used the medicine for vegetative-vascular dystonia. For a long period of time she suffered from increased weakness and headaches. I was always afraid to use strong medications, so I refused the recommended treatment.

A friend advised me to try a course of treatment with Novopassit. She herself has been taking a nerve calmer for a long time and says that it works.

I drank the medicinal syrup for a month, and the result was surprising. The condition has improved, and some symptoms have gone away completely. The product is good and the price is low.

Roman, 32 years old, Krasnodar

A few months ago I began to get very irritated, nervous, and my hands began to tremble. Previously, I fell asleep instantly, but when my condition worsened, I began to have difficulty falling asleep and tossed and turned in bed for a long time. I woke up many times during the night.

The doctor recommended Persen. I doubted its effectiveness, but still tried it. My sleep returned to normal and I began to feel calmer. The drug helps with nerve problems.

Valeria, 38 years old, Ufa

I can’t classify myself as a calm person. I often fall into depression and despondency, accompanied by increased anxiety and irritability. I try to use sedative medications that are less harmful to the body. Previously, I carried out courses of treatment with glycine on the advice of a doctor, but over time it stopped helping. I switched to Novopassit.

The drug has a stronger effect on the body. The effect is felt almost instantly. After drug therapy, positive changes in the state of the nervous system are observed. The product is very calming and improves sleep.

Instructions for use and special instructions

It is important to use the drug correctly. The instructions for use inform you about how it should be taken.

Different types of medicine have their own characteristics in the method of administration and dosage regimen.

Persen Forte

This product is intended for oral administration. Capsules should be swallowed whole with liquid. The dosage is determined by the symptoms:

  • to relieve nervous excitement and irritability, as well as to relax during mental stress, it is recommended to take 2 capsules twice a day;
  • If you have sleep disturbances, 2 capsules are enough to take at night.

Persen Night

Persen night is used for problems falling asleep. It is prescribed to adults and adolescents who have reached the age of 12 years. To improve sleep, drink 2 capsules immediately before falling asleep. The course of treatment for insomnia ranges from 2 weeks to 1 month. It is prohibited to use the medicine for more than 2 months in a row.

Application in pediatric practice

Many parents are interested in whether Persen can be used for children? Yes it is possible. It can be prescribed as a sedative for various neurotic disorders, after suffering stress, mental or emotional shock.

The dosage is determined by the attending physician. It depends on the age and body weight of the child. As a rule, children over 3 years of age are advised to take 1 tablet 1-3 times a day. The dosage regimen for adolescents is no different from that for adults.

Reviews after use

Persen tried it after a strong emotional breakdown at work - the student behaved inappropriately and provoked a conflict. Endless disputes with my parents and superiors exhausted my nervous system, I became withdrawn and irritable, and in my profession this is unacceptable.

Based on reviews on the Internet, I chose Persen because of its natural composition. I took it according to the regimen 2 times a day. I began to recover in the second week of treatment, to react more calmly to stressful situations, criticism from others, and bad circumstances.

I had no adverse reactions, I tolerated the drug well, my performance and activity were completely preserved.

Persen helped get rid of obsession and irritability. The doctor prescribed me to drink it for a month, three times a day, one tablet. After a couple of weeks, I felt better, was able to communicate with loved ones, read, and became interested in fitness. A feeling of happiness returned to my life, and former anxious thoughts began to “visit” less and less often.

Persen turned out to be an effective medicine; the only disadvantage I would like to emphasize is its high cost. The advantages are safety, naturalness, mild action.

Persen instructions for use

Safe treatment of stress-related disorders in the practice of psychiatrists and psychologists

With the start of everyday work, we fall into a state in which it seems like it’s too early to see a psychiatrist, but we also need to do something about ourselves. Whether to cry into someone's vest, or to play sports, or to drink alcohol is already ruled out! As for the first two points, it won't hurt. But when it comes to taking medications, you should be careful with this matter. After the New Year holidays, the state of depression is familiar to almost every second person. And it’s not just that we lack light and vitamins, but that fatigue has accumulated. Valerian is perhaps the most famous sedative. The advice is not very correct, because at this point a single dose of valerian will not help.

Clinical ophthalmology.

Experience with the use of the drug Persen for subthreshold anxiety spectrum disorders in adolescents

How does the popular sedative Afobazole work, has its effectiveness been studied and in what areas is it taken? Studying the effects of drugs on the psyche can be difficult, especially if you want to find a cure for irritability and anxiety. In Russia, where registering a drug is much easier than in the US, UK or EU, this creates a danger: a whole series of drugs with questionable effectiveness may appear. Let's see if Afobazole is one of them, or whether its effect has been proven by science.

An effective drug that can protect against stress, combat psycho-emotional and autonomic disorders that accompany both normal physiological processes and somatic, neurological and mental diseases.

.

Therapeutic effect

The content of several plant components causes a complex effect. The product eliminates anxiety, agitation, irritability and physical tension. The nighttime version of the drug speeds up falling asleep, reduces the frequency of night awakenings and increases the duration of sleep. A daytime remedy that relieves chronic stress and calms you down.

The drug reduces the tone of smooth muscle cells. Smooth muscle is part of many internal organs, including blood vessels and the digestive tract. An increase in the tone of these cells causes unpleasant symptoms, such as pain and discomfort. Tablets and capsules eliminate this condition.

The medicinal properties of the herbal components used in the manufacture of tablets and capsules have been well studied. These herbs have been used in medicinal practice for many centuries. The product contains the correct ratio of plant substances.

Price and release form of Persen

Persen for VSD is available in the form of tablets and capsules. The capsules have an enhanced effect, as they are protected by a gelatin shell, which does not allow the contents to dissolve prematurely on the way to the stomach.

Since Persen capsules are more effective for VSD, they are more expensive. Persen is produced in the form of cardboard packages with blisters of 40 pieces. This amount is enough, depending on the daily dosage, for 2-4 weeks. Persen capsules for VSD cost 400 rubles, and tablets (40 pieces per package) cost from 200 to 300 rubles.

For persistently high blood pressure, it is recommended to additionally use antihypertensive medications. Whether or not Persen lowers blood pressure during VSD depends on the individual characteristics of each patient’s body. For some buyers, the opposite effect occurs: pressure begins to rise. In this case, you need to replace the product with a similar one.

Instructions for using Persen

Capsules or tablets should be taken orally with sufficient liquid. Eating does not affect the absorption of medications. The standard course of therapy continues for a month. You can limit yourself to a two-week course of administration or a single use. It is not recommended to use medications for longer than one and a half or two months without consulting your doctor. Abrupt termination of therapy is not accompanied by the development of a withdrawal reaction. The components do not cause physical or psychological dependence.

  • Psycho-emotional stress: two or three tablets twice or thrice a day.

additional information

  • Taking non-therapeutic doses (overdose) can cause the following complications: spasms of the stomach walls, fatigue, pain in the chest, cephalalgia, dilated pupils, tremor. Usually these symptoms disappear on their own within 24 hours, but it is recommended to seek medical help. Gastric lavage is possible to alleviate the effect of overdose.
  • No studies have been conducted on the safety of taking capsules or tablet forms during pregnancy and lactation. There may be undesirable effects of medicinal substances on the developing fetus.
  • Interaction effects with other medications are possible. It is recommended to discuss the simultaneous use of several drugs with your doctor. Tablet and capsule forms enhance the medicinal properties of hypnotics and drugs that inhibit the activity of the central nervous system. The effects of medications that lower blood pressure are also enhanced. Your doctor may change your dosage.
  • If the patient suffers from reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus (reflux disease), the manifestations of the pathology may intensify during therapy. You need to consult a gastroenterologist.
  • The remedy is not suitable for all patients suffering from anxiety, chronic stress, irritability and sleep disturbances. Many pathologies that cause such symptoms require the use of other medications. If unpleasant symptoms do not disappear or worsen during therapy, you need to consult a specialist and undergo an examination. Taking tablets or capsules on your own for longer than two months is prohibited.
  • The medicine is not prescribed to patients under the age of twelve, since the safety of use in childhood has not been studied.
  • During therapy, the speed of psychomotor reactions decreases due to inhibition of the central nervous system. Possible drowsiness during the day. You should not engage in hazardous activities, including driving, while taking tablets or capsules.
