pharmachologic effect

Coaxil - what is it?

This is an antidepressant. The mechanism of action is based on the reuptake of serotonin

at the synapses of the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. The drug can increase the activity of pyramidal cells and increase the rate of their recovery after functional inhibition.

During treatment, the patient’s somatic status

: the severity of headaches decreases, attacks of nausea, epigastric and muscle pain, increased heartbeat, and fever are reduced.

The medication has a positive effect on the well-being of patients suffering from alcoholism and abstaining from drinking alcoholic beverages. The drug does not affect the functioning of the cardiovascular system, the ability to concentrate, sleep, or memory. Not addictive.

Drug interactions

This drug interacts with some medications. Their connection can cause the following effects:

  • with MAO inhibitors: a sharp increase in blood pressure, collapse, convulsions, sweating, and death are possible. In this regard, Coaxil can be started only two weeks after stopping the inhibitors;
  • with mianserin: an antagonistic effect occurs (not recommended for combination in one therapy);
  • with ethanol: causes increased side effects (simultaneous use is not recommended).

Coaxil action

  • individual hypersensitivity
    ;
  • simultaneous therapy with drugs that inhibit MAO. The time interval recommended by the manufacturer is 2 weeks.

Reviews

“I was treated with Coaxil for a severe form of depression that struck me after long-term use of weak drugs.

The doctor prescribed a 1.5 month course of treatment - 15 days, 1 tablet per day, and the next 20 days, two tablets. The mood is wonderful, I don’t feel like taking anything extra. Side effects include breathing problems, a lump in my throat, and ringing in my ears. Unpleasant symptoms appear in the afternoon and stop only after falling asleep.”

“I take Coaxil to combat depression. I simply cannot cope on my own. A positive effect was noted approximately at the end of 2 weeks of regular use of the drug. Being not a talkative person at all, I began to experience an incredible craving for conversation, and the topic of the conversation did not bother me at all. By the end of 1 month of treatment, I had finally talked enough and felt very good, my mood improved, I began to sleep for 7-8 hours, previously I could not take a normal nap for 4 hours. I can’t leave the feeling of enthusiasm, sometimes there is irritation about this, but the doctor convinced me that this is normal.”

“A tricyclic antidepressant that increases the rate of serotonin uptake. I recommend that my patients use it with great caution, as undesirable side effects may occur in the form of tachycardia, drowsiness, and sore throat.”

Arkady Dmitrievich, psychotherapist

“Coaxil is the most powerful antidepressant of the latest generation. You should take it no more than 2 tablets per day. The optimal recommended dose is 1 tablet, but for the treatment of severe depressive conditions you can slightly exceed the dose.

I learned this information from my attending physician; before that I was afraid to take any antidepressants, naively believing that every pill brought me closer to becoming a drug addict. I’ve been taking the drug for a month now, and I haven’t noticed anything unnatural about myself. The positive thing was a noticeable improvement in mood and well-being.”

“I took Coaxil only a few times, the effect was disgusting. My head was spinning, my heart ached, I was short of air. My mood dropped so much that it couldn’t get any lower, and this was the drug that was supposed to get me out of my depressive state. The gloomy thoughts not only did not go away, on the contrary, new ones were added to them. I stopped taking it after describing my symptoms to the doctor. Now I’m using a complex of drugs and I’m already noticing positive changes. Probably this medicine just doesn’t suit me.”

“I take Coaxil 0.5 tablets twice a day. Negative phenomena such as severe irritation, headaches, dizziness and bad mood disappeared. The doctor recommends continuing the treatment, but I don’t see the point in it. I’m very afraid of the addiction this drug can cause.”

“I took it for 2 months, had not been treated with anything before, I hoped that everything would work out and go away on its own. I came to the psychotherapist with severe depression. Seeing my condition, he recommended taking Coaxil. The treatment went with a bang, depression disappeared, I had already forgotten what panic attacks and various kinds of phobias were. Before treatment, I was always afraid to go out alone in places where there were a lot of people, it got to the point that I refused to go to the hypermarket for groceries, threw hysterics, and cried. Now all this has passed like a bad dream, the mood is simply wonderful, the desire to live and create has appeared.”

“My husband recently left me, or rather, I left him myself after unexpectedly meeting my mistress. I cried for a week, then I started drinking, I spent all the money on new chic clothes, I felt desired and beautiful, and seemed to calm down. Unfortunately, this is all just outwardly, but in my heart it’s still very disgusting, I don’t allow myself to cry anymore, I don’t have any friends, I’m not used to sharing with my mother. I decided to go to a psychotherapist, because I understood that I simply could not start a new life with such a burden behind me. The doctor advised me to take a Coaxil tablet once a day. The medicine turned out to be inexpensive, but very good. The gloomy thoughts quietly disappeared by themselves, I again learned to enjoy life and appreciate the people around me (after breaking up, I considered everyone who knew our married couple to be traitors).”

“I took it in the morning and at lunch. The reason for treatment is severe depression due to neurotic disorders. It all started banally - after breaking up with a young man, whom all my relatives had long ago signed up as a groom. The separation itself was peaceful by mutual agreement, and I did not have any special complaints against my ex-boyfriend. But this was only until my mother and other relatives found out about it. They told me this, they accused me that it was all my fault and that I had let such a good guy go, and now I should be an old maid. I was terribly upset and since then I couldn’t get rid of my bad mood, problems began with my health, I didn’t like anything, neither new outfits, nor projects at my favorite job. I endured this condition for about 4 months, couldn’t stand it and was forced to see a doctor. The specialist recommended Coaxil. I’ve been taking it for a month now, the effect is noticeable, but I probably expected more. I was hoping for relief after the first pill, but the doctor said that it doesn’t happen.”

Veronica, 25 years old

“The doctor strongly recommended Coaxil to me, but after reading reviews about this drug on medical forums, I insisted on replacing it with another drug. This is a real drug, drug addicts dilute it and inject it intravenously, after which they get a high. How can such a dangerous drug be sold in a pharmacy, and without a prescription? I don’t recommend this medicine, it’s better to be treated longer, but it’s safe for the body, than to take chemistry without knowing what will happen to you next.”

Victoria Vladimirovna, 36 years old

“I was prescribed Coaxil after severe stress. No other drugs helped me. The reason for my depression is simple - divorce, two children in my care, lack of my own roof over my head.

special instructions

What is Coaxil?

In narrow circles, the medicine is used for the independent production of homemade injection drugs. When there is a shortage of heroin, drug addicts replace the drug with tianeptine as an alternative (source Wikipedia).

Coaxil, consequences

The consequences of its use as a narcotic drug are irreversible. When the powder obtained from crushed tablets is administered intravenously, the membranes of the blood vessels are destroyed. Up to several fields of dead cells appear in the fundus of the eye, which in the future leads to a complete impairment of visual perception and blindness.

The upper and lower extremities are characterized by the development of gangrene

. Within a few weeks, the teeth in the isthmus area completely rot. There is difficulty breathing, the appearance of convulsions, and muscle tremors. Withdrawal syndrome cannot be stopped even with natural opiates; most drug addicts commit suicide.

Directions for use and dosage regimen:

The oral drug Coaxil is presented in the form of tablets, which are taken in the dose recommended by the doctor before meals. Usually prescribed 12.5 mg three times a day (i.e. 3 tablets). In old age, as well as in patients with renal failure, the daily dosage is reduced to 2 tablets. The duration of treatment differs in each specific case. You cannot interrupt therapy on your own; first consult with your doctor. It is necessary to stop treatment with Tianeptine gradually, reducing the dosage over 7-14 days.

Taking a dose greater than prescribed is dangerous due to complications, usually represented by standard overdose symptoms. In this case, you should contact your doctor to receive symptomatic treatment.

Coaxil - patient reviews

My doctor prescribed Coaxil to me 3 years ago in combination with other medications for depression. I had to take the medicine for about a year. Now I am very happy with my condition, calm and happy. I did not experience any side effects. Although I heard that there can be many side effects, I did not feel it myself.

I took the pills as prescribed by the doctor for about a month. Then I had to stop taking this medicine. She was lethargic and overdeveloped all the time, constantly wanted to sleep, and could not work at all. I didn't want to do anything. Although I must admit, my head became clearer and the confusion of thoughts disappeared. I somehow did not notice any dependence on this medicine.

Coaxil is not the strongest drug; it is good to drink for mild depression. It does not cause serious side effects or fatal consequences. But to get a good effect on depression and melancholy, you need to drink it for at least 3-4 months.

Preparations based on Tianeptine

Pharmaceutical companies offer drugs in which the active substance is Tianeptine; in the Russian Federation the drug is produced under the name Coaxil, and its analogue abroad is called Stablon.

The mechanism of the therapeutic effect of these drugs is not completely clear, but a distinctive feature of Tianeptine-based drugs is the facilitation of the reverse neuronal uptake of serotonin. There is no fundamental difference between Stablon and Coaxil for the reason that they have the same active ingredient.

Characteristic differences between drugs based on Tianeptine from other antidepressants are the absence of side effects such as drowsiness, decreased libido and effects on body weight (Coaxil and Stablon do not increase appetite).

These drugs are used in the treatment of a wide range of mental disorders. Their use can normalize behavioral reactions in patients with alcoholism during the abstinence period.

Despite the fact that the entire group of medications is excluded from the list of vital drugs, dispensing through the pharmacy chain is made according to a doctor’s prescription.
