Novo-Passit tablets are prescribed to patients for the treatment and prevention of the following conditions:

• Anxiety, feelings of anxiety and unreasonable fear;
• Insomnia, difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings at night, short shallow sleep;
• Neurasthenia;
• Vegetovascular dystonia with attacks of panic attacks;
• Mental stress;
• Frequent stress;
• Irritability;
• Constant fatigue;
• Tension headaches;
• As an aid for intestinal spasms and dyspepsia;
• Atopic dermatitis as a soothing and antipruritic agent.

Drug interactions, special instructions

The simultaneous use of Novopassit and other medications can lead to an increase or decrease in their effect.
The drug also makes the effect of alcohol and other substances that have a depressing effect on the central nervous system more noticeable. In combination with drugs that help relax skeletal muscles, increased side effects are possible (primarily this relates to muscle weakness).

St. John's wort extract makes hormonal contraceptives practically useless. In addition, Novopassit does not combine well with:

• immunosuppressive medications;
• anti-AIDS drugs;
• medications against bronchial and cardiovascular diseases;
• drugs to prevent thromboembolism.

Special recommendations for people taking Novopassit:

• avoid excess exposure to ultraviolet rays;
• do not wait more than 7 days for the disappearance of side symptoms, consult a doctor;
• limit (or better yet, stop) performing driving duties and activities that require a high speed of psycho-physical reactions.

There are some comments regarding taking the syrup:

• this remedy is not suitable for people suffering from problems with the absorption of glucose and galactose, as well as those who have been intolerant to fructose since childhood;
• one prescribed dose of syrup contains up to 1.42 g of glucose and 1.53 g of fructose (a mark for those who suffer from diabetes).

Directions for use and dosage

The doctor or the instructions from the package with the product will tell the patient how to take Novopassit correctly.

• The soothing syrup is used exclusively internally.
• You should drink a portion of the medicine shortly before eating.
• It should be washed down with plenty of clean, non-carbonated and unsweetened water.

For both adults and children, the average dose of the drug was 5 ml. It is convenient to measure this portion with a special miniature dispenser that comes with a bottle of syrup. The indicated dose is used 3 times throughout the day. For example, before each main meal.

The number of doses remains the same - 3 times throughout the day.

If, when taking a standard dose, the patient begins to feel drowsy and tired already in the morning and afternoon, then the portion is reduced to 2.5 ml. The average duration of therapy with Novopassit is 15–20 days. Only a doctor can correctly determine it.

If the patient's condition has not improved after 7 days of regularly taking the syrup, he will most likely need to choose another sedative.

Special instructions for taking syrup

Some characteristics of the body of a child or adult can lead to nausea after taking the medicine on an empty stomach. In this case, you can drink the syrup after meals.

• It is strictly forbidden to use a sedative at the same time as alcoholic beverages.
• Throughout the entire course of treatment, it is advisable to avoid active tanning in the open sun and in a solarium. Especially if the patient has light sensitive skin.
• Diabetics should be aware that the syrup contains sugar in fairly large quantities.

NovoPassit during pregnancy and lactation

The administration of medication during pregnancy is considered inappropriate. Since there is no specific data on the effect of the material on the child, we can only assume that in the case of initial low blood pressure in the mother, the use of chemical products can lead to a further drop. This will affect the blood supply to the fetus with corresponding consequences.

During pregnancy, the medication can be prescribed only in cases of urgent need; in all other cases, the drug is contraindicated for this category of patients.

In case of breastfeeding, the medication is contraindicated. If necessary, stop breastfeeding.

What does Novopassit help with? Syrup, tablets are prescribed:

• neurotic reactions and neurasthenia, accompanied by anxiety, irritability, fatigue, fear, absent-mindedness;
• itchy dermatoses caused by psychological overload (seborrheic eczema, atopic eczema, urticaria);

• “manager syndrome” (constant mental stress);
• functional diseases of the digestive system (irritable bowel syndrome, dyspeptic syndrome, etc.);
• cardiopsychoneurosis;

• migraine.

The composition of the drug includes guaifenesin and an extract of seven medicinal plants and has a multidirectional sedative mechanism of action. Thus, guaifenesin is a muscle relaxant and anxiolytic. The herb St. John's wort has antidepressant properties. This is due to inhibition of serotonin reuptake and suppression of monoamine oxidase. The hypnotic and calming effect of valerian is the result of the influence on gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors and the opening of chloride channels. Novopassit belongs to the group of sedative drugs. Widely used as a remedy to reduce anxiety and mental stress. It is often recommended for the treatment of neurotic disorders accompanied by asthenia, hypothymia, sleep dysfunction and somatized anxiety phenomena. The clinical activity of the drug is well combined with minimizing side effects and lack of addiction.

Price of the drug, its analogues

Novopassit has no structural analogue for the main active ingredient, but there are several similar drugs in its pharmacological group (drugs used to overcome neurasthenia). The most famous of them are: Afobazole, Glycine, Persen, Tenoten, Tazepam, Phenazepam.

The use of any of these drugs must be agreed with your doctor.

1. St. John's wort. The plant has anxiolytic and antidepressant properties - it improves mood and reduces anxiety. In addition, it has an immunostimulating, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effect.
2. Hop. It has a calming, analgesic and antihistamine effect.
3. Hawthorn. It has a beneficial effect on heart rate, blood circulation in the coronary vessels and cerebral vessels, has an antispasmodic effect and reduces psychological excitability.
4. Melissa. It has a calming, antibacterial, antispasmodic, antiviral and restorative effect.
5. Black elderberry. It perfectly calms the nervous system and has an analgesic effect.
6. Passionflower. Normalizes sleep, improves concentration, has analgesic, antispasmodic and anti-anxiety effects.
7. Valerian. It has the function of mild sedation, normalizes sleep phases and reduces mental stress.
8. Guaifenesin. A substance that effectively acts on people in a state of constant stress and neurosis.

The main difference between Novo-Passit and synthetic analogues is its non-toxicity and safety in use. With long-term use, the product will not cause you any addiction or dependence.

The product is available in two dosage forms - syrup and tablets. There is a slight difference in the dosages of the components.

The mixture is available in darkened glass bottles of different volumes: 100 ml, 200 ml, 450 ml.

Currently the drug has two forms of release:

• Film-coated tablets. They are placed either in a plastic jar in the amount of 60 pieces, or in blisters of 10 pieces, which, in turn, are packed in cardboard boxes of 1 or 3 pieces.
• Syrup. It is placed in dark glass bottles of 100 or 200 ml, and then it is packed in cardboard boxes.
