The goal of edutainment is to educate, “but using entertaining strategies,” says Gordon Carlson, who studies communications at Fort Hays University in Kansas. Educational content is very popular on YouTube, including videos on the mathematics of cake cutting and slow-mo tattooing. A 2020 survey of nearly five thousand U.S. adults found that about nine in ten YouTube users value it as a learning resource. A similar survey of Gen Zers found that 60% of them prefer YouTube to textbooks. Moreover, according to 2020 data, the 3% of the most popular edutainment channels receive 85% of all views.
Siraj Raval created one such channel. Over the four years of its existence, it has gained almost 700 thousand subscribers. The greatest excitement was caused by videos such as “TensorFlow in five minutes,” which talks about a popular program for research in the field of artificial intelligence, and “How a programmer can make money in 2018.” To keep his audience entertained and engaged, Raval punctuates his mini-lectures on technology with colorful graphics, memes, and even rap.
Although Raval's videos were initially praised for their high quality and accessibility, his work has recently been called into question. Last summer, The Register reported that an online course called "Make Money with Machine Learning" turned out to be a scam, and Raval was forced to refund hundreds of students. Around the same time, he published an academic article that was later found to be plagiarized.
Experts also found that Raval regularly made mistakes in code attribution and questioned his qualifications. He claimed to be a data scientist, but did not receive the appropriate education and had little experience in the industry. Raval has since released two video apologies in which he acknowledged the mistakes but said he will continue to inspire people to learn programming.
Researchers who analyze platforms like YouTube have long been concerned about such incidents. “As one of my colleagues recently said, ‘YouTube is essentially the Wild West,’” says Joachim Allgaier, a sociologist who studies science communication at RWTH Aachen University. Thus, Raval's story is unusual not because of what he did, but because of what he did not do. None of his videos were fake news or pseudoscience. He didn't spread conspiracy theories. His videos were entertaining and nominally educational.
There is no reason to believe that Raval’s behavior is typical of all creators of edutainment channels on YouTube, but in any case, questions are raised about their qualifications and the quality of the content posted on the platform, which is the main source of additional information for millions of people.

- Don't just use template phrases. Convey in your own words, in a discreet manner, your personal character traits. Exclusively for creative professions, you can use humor and creativity in your resume.
- Do not indicate more than 5 characteristics. Try to avoid vague, general phrases, for example, talented, responsible. It’s better to choose an individual character trait that exactly suits you and the desired position.
- Draw the employer's attention to personal qualities that are easy to immediately check, for example, energetic, sociable.
- When characterizing negative qualities, you should not evade the answer. It’s better to name several options and indicate how you are working on them, how you are improving your character.
Instantcms
Instantcms is a system developed by Russian-speaking programmers. Instantcms is an engine for creating a social network. I worked with this engine for quite a long time and I managed to form some opinion about it.
Advantages:
- The system is absolutely free
- Very easy and intuitive control panel interface
- Relatively low server load and short page generation time
- Very easy to learn
- Large number of built-in extensions
- Availability of additional extensions from third-party developers
- The system is completely in Russian
Flaws:
- A very small community compared to such giants as wordpress, joomla and drupal
- A large number of bugs and errors in the engine.
- A very small number of additional extensions, and most of them are paid
- Registration on the official website by invitation. Imagine that on a forum I need to receive a special invite from a friend who is also registered there and has a certain status. And this despite the fact that the project must develop and expand its community. Just some kind of stupidity, excuse the expression.
- A very rare cms update, despite the huge number of errors and vulnerabilities.
One of my sites runs on this content management system. To be honest, I regretted choosing her. There was more of a sporting interest here. I even thought about transferring it to joomla, but there are a lot of articles on the site and therefore this is out of the question for now.
Despite its merits, I would not recommend this system, but this is also a matter of taste. There are, for example, obvious supporters of this system and ardent haters of joomla and wordpress.
Video
Not everyone requires you to list your weaknesses on your resume. But if there is such a clause on the form, then putting a dash through would be a mistake. Better look at an example of character weaknesses in your resume.
Before filling out the box in which you need to indicate your shortcomings, think about your answer. Do not miss it under any circumstances, because ideal people do not exist. As a rule, managers want to see how adequately you evaluate yourself. If you don't know what to write, look at the suggested options and choose something that suits you best.
A universal formula: select character traits that are an advantage for performing this particular job, but in ordinary life can really be considered a human flaw.
The following weaknesses can be written:
- excessive directness, the habit of telling the truth face to face;
- difficulty establishing contact with strangers;
- inability to show flexibility in labor matters;
- reliability;
- increased anxiety;
- excessive emotionality, hot temper;
- love of formalism;
- restlessness;
- slowness;
- hyperactivity;
- fear of air travel.
All of the weaknesses listed in your resume can become strengths if you look at them from a different angle. An example is restlessness. For a sales representative or active sales manager, this can even be a plus. The same goes for reliability. This is a signal to the manager that you may be the person who will do all the overtime work.
All applicants should think about how to write my weaknesses for a resume. For example, a future accountant or design engineer might write:
- distrust;
- excessive scrupulousness;
- increased anxiety;
- excessive demands on oneself;
- straightforwardness;
- pedantry;
- modesty;
- inability to lie;
- difficulties in establishing contact with strangers;
- self-esteem;
- lack of flexibility in labor matters;
- integrity;
- inflated sense of responsibility;
- lack of diplomacy.
- hyperactivity;
- self-confidence;
- restlessness;
- impulsiveness;
- the need for external motivation;
- distrust, desire to double-check and confirm all information.
Disadvantages for one profession can become advantages for another.
You can also indicate in your resume among your negative qualities:
- straightforwardness;
- workaholism;
- excessive love of communication.
Applicants for the position of manager must prepare before filling out this column. It is better to think in advance about what weaknesses to include in your resume. You can write to them about the following character traits:
- excessive emotionality;
- pedantry;
- love for little things;
- thoughts about work and planning occupy most of your free time;
- increased demands on others.
A good example would be the following:
- inability to respond to rudeness with rudeness;
- tendency to make decisions based on one’s own opinion;
- distrust of people and love of confirmation of facts.
Some applicants prefer to indicate that they:
- overly trusting;
- can raise their voice to subordinates;
- straightforward, express their opinions without veiled embellishments;
- hot-tempered;
- always looking for confirmation of words;
- have a hypertrophied sense of responsibility;
- prone to formalism and pay excessive attention to detail;
- irritated by clutter;
- slow;
- do not like to do something to please others.
Many people are afraid to write about shortcomings, believing that the employer will immediately send their resume to the trash bin. Of course, you shouldn’t be too frank, but you shouldn’t completely skip this section of the questionnaire. In this case, you can write about some neutral qualities that will not affect your work in any way. For a person applying for any vacancy, among the inherent weaknesses one can indicate:
- fear of airplanes;
- arachnophobia (fear of spiders), vespertiliophobia (fear of bats), ophidiophobia (fear of snakes);
- excess weight;
- lack of experience;
- age (suitable for people over 40 years old);
- love of shopping;
- love for sweets.
This information does not characterize you in any way, it simply speaks about your fears or small weaknesses.
The following disadvantages can be mentioned:
- I don’t always express my thoughts accurately;
- I trust people too much;
- prone to reflection;
- I often analyze past mistakes, focusing too much attention on them;
- I spend a lot of time evaluating my actions.
These are negative qualities, but they should not affect the work process.
Regardless of the position for which you are applying, you can write the following weaknesses in your resume:
- I get so carried away with work that I forget to take breaks;
- I can’t build relationships with colleagues because I don’t like gossip;
- I can’t fight back in response to boorish treatment;
- I constantly pass all situations through myself;
- I let people get too close;
- I don’t know how to swear;
- I get noticeably worried when I have to lie.
Please note that there are items that are best left unindicated. You should not write, for example, that you:
- love to be lazy;
- afraid to take responsibility;
- don't like making decisions;
- unpunctual;
- are often distracted;
- you only think about your salary;
- love office romances.
For example, if you write about your laziness in your resume, you run the risk that the employer will decide that you don’t want to work.
After all, it is after reading it that the first stage of screening candidates for the position follows. This means that the applicant must first of all interest the HR specialist in order to qualify for the first interview.
The resume should be fairly short, no more than 1-2 pages. It is necessary to try to place in this format not only information about professional skills and education received, but also to briefly identify the applicant. When providing personal information, weigh each phrase, as this will reveal your weaknesses in your resume. For example, if you are afraid that you may be rejected because of your age, list your work experience first and write your date of birth at the end. and the presence of children in each specific case also affects the evaluation of the resume. If your job involves business travel, be sure to indicate that a family member or nanny is with the children and that you can easily leave them during business trips. This applies to women to a greater extent, especially if the children are small. It is better to include information about the children at the very end of the resume so that it is not perceived negatively. For almost any employer, the presence of preschool-aged children is your weaknesses in your resume. Try to spend as much time as possible
our strengths - education, professional experience, acquired skills. It may happen that you are asked to fill out a resume form developed by the employer. Surely it will contain a lot of questions about your personal qualities. There is no need to pretend to be someone you are not, because during work it will all come out.
Yours in the resume
If you're required to describe your strengths and weaknesses in your resume, don't be too forthcoming. There is no need to describe character weaknesses. In your resume, be concise and weigh the characteristics. Indeed, depending on the position for which you are applying, the same quality can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. For example, communication skills are not required to work as an analyst; other qualities are more appropriate here - scrupulousness, concentration, etc. Working with visitors requires a worker with a calm, sometimes even phlegmatic character. Leadership inclinations are not needed here at all.
When describing your weaknesses in your resume, for example, lack of knowledge of a foreign language, focus on your desire for development and desire to learn. If you are required to talk about your shortcomings, indicate no more than 2-3 qualities. It is better to avoid vague formulations and do not indicate qualities that run counter to the requirements for the vacant position. Describe your weaknesses in your resume in the simplest words, without complex verbiage. Example: impulsiveness, straightforwardness, isolation, etc. Do not write statements such as restlessness, short temper, slowness, etc. that frighten a potential employer. Don't share your pain, it has nothing to do with your plans to get a job.
Every person sooner or later is faced with the need to clearly identify all his strengths. Most often this happens when writing a resume. The employer wants to see a list of a person’s strengths before the interview. To ensure that this question does not take you by surprise, you should analyze yours in detail.
What shortcomings prevent you from working?
Source: "Trud"
Excess weight, shyness, excessive talkativeness, quarrelsome character. What qualities hinder you?
Oleg, economist
"Shyness"
I am a quiet and shy person. Self-doubt does not allow me to once again express my point of view or make a new proposal. It's a real disaster when it comes to public speaking.
Before talking to my boss, I analyze my plan a hundred and fifty times, each time I find flaws in it and come up with a thousand excuses not to voice it. Once I hesitated for a long time to make a report to the director. As a result, my colleague overtook me. Now the company is working on his project, which I once thought about.
Daria, creative director
"Excellent student complex"
Since childhood, I have become accustomed to being first in everything and never give myself the right to make mistakes. After a recent promotion, I am constantly haunted by a terrible fear of not being able to cope with the task and getting into trouble. Lately I’ve been trying to avoid sharp corners, doing everything to reduce risks, but in hindsight I understand that this will only make things worse for the company. Sometimes I can't even sleep.
And if the bosses don’t blame me for the unfortunate mistake, I know that I will still mentally torture myself to the last. I have the same requirements for my subordinates as for myself. One has already quit - according to her, she cannot work 24 hours a day.
Inna, advertising manager
"Chatteriness"
I can't keep my mouth shut. I am a storyteller by nature and love audiences. I blossom in front of grateful listeners. Sometimes I get carried away, I can embellish reality, invent a non-existent story.
Colleagues are always aware of my personal life. I also like to gossip harmlessly. I know that my boss is condescending to my weaknesses, but he will never trust me with important information. He thinks that I have too frivolous a character.
Ulyana, marketing specialist
"Excessive expressiveness"
I am very emotional by nature. Any event can evoke the deepest response in me. Every second movie melodrama makes me cry. Emotions interfere with my profession. If my boss pesters me with a reprimand about work deadlines, I instantly light up and raise my voice.
One day, a colleague’s kind joke led to a real scandal. I then said a bunch of offensive things, brought the girl to tears myself, and then cried with her.
Yuri, unemployed
"Excess weight"
I am a certified manager, graduated from college with honors, I know three foreign languages, and I just can’t find a job that matches my qualifications. The thing is that I am too fat, and since the manager is the face of the company, it is very difficult for me to find a job in my specialty.
When I went to study, I didn’t think that I would later face such discrimination. At least change your profession, honestly!
Denis, bank employee
"Slowness"
For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with one of my shortcomings all my life. At school, this prevented me from being an excellent student; at the institute, I always did not have time to prepare for the exam and completed coursework at the last moment.
I'm not slow-witted and I'm fine intellectually, I'm just constantly distracted by minor details and can't help but get caught up in the little things. You often have to stay late at work, and your boss is always unhappy.
Alexandra, journalist
"Internet Addiction"
I have a completely stupid daily routine. I stay awake at night, and am always nodding off in the morning. In the evening after work, I sit down at my laptop with a cup of coffee and surf the Internet until 4 am.
Because of my addiction, I am regularly late for work by half an hour because I simply don’t hear the alarm clocks (I have two) in the morning. I promised myself a million times that I would go to bed on time, but I could never bring myself to do it.
Mikhail, Customer Service Manager
"Too handsome"
All my life I got everything “for beautiful eyes.” As a child, I was spoiled by teachers, at the institute teachers gave tests automatically, I got a job without difficulty - the interview was conducted by a young girl.
Now everything is fine with me: stable job, good salary. But I understand that, alas, I will not have a brilliant career. I got used to the fact that everything comes easy to me, and I never acquired leadership qualities, did not learn to fight and defend my point of view.
Talent
It is on talent that all strong character traits are based. Every person knows perfectly well what he can do best. Developing talent will take effort. Few achieve perfection, but anyone can hone their skills.
To ensure that talent does not go to waste, it is best to associate your profession with it. Life will be much more interesting if work brings pleasure. To do this, it is simply necessary that it suits the person’s character, temperament, and meets his interests.
Imagecms
Imagecms is a very convenient and functional cms. Its main purpose is to create an online store. Online store features are available in a paid version. With the free version we can create light and fast corporate websites. At first glance, I really liked this system. I especially liked the control panel that runs on the twitter bootstrap framework. I’ve already started listing the advantages. Let's take things in order.
Advantages:
- Very beautiful and intuitive control panel
- The control panel works entirely on ajax technology, which significantly saves time on creating pages and products
- Excellent SEO engine optimization
- Low server load and short page generation time
- Open source
- Multilingual
- Special wiki documentation on the official developer website

Flaws:
- The free system has very limited capabilities
- Very small number of additional extensions and themes
Here in a word, if you need a fast and easy to learn system with a convenient and intuitive control panel, then imagecms is a worthy choice. I will definitely make a website using imagecms, I really liked it.
Work on yourself
A person's strengths and weaknesses are closely intertwined with each other. No one can boast that he is perfect and has no weaknesses. A self-sufficient person always admits that he has shortcomings. There is nothing wrong. After all, a person’s shortcomings are traits that, with volitional influence, make it possible to develop further, not to stand still. If you engage in self-development, then over time a person can turn all weaknesses into strengths.
It is not always easy to identify a person’s strengths and weaknesses.
Their people are not inclined to hide, they know very well what they can do best. However, sometimes people overestimate themselves and do not always correctly assess their capabilities.
If everything is more or less clear with positive character traits, then with shortcomings everything is more complicated. Few people are able to honestly admit to themselves that they are excessively lazy, are constantly late, or cannot bring the work they have started to its logical conclusion.
What are human weaknesses? In most cases, people are characterized by laziness, excessive gentleness of character, shyness, problems with maintaining a daily routine, and lack of discipline.
Many human shortcomings can be easily corrected on their own, but others cannot be dealt with without the help of a psychologist. Some human flaws cannot be removed. According to them, experts advise adjusting your own lifestyle so that they do not cause inconvenience.
Inkjet printers
With the development of technological progress and the advent of advanced developments, inventions were actively implemented and used in almost all areas of human activity, making work easier.
This is how printing presses appeared, and to replace them after the advent of electrical appliances, people learned to create the first automated devices for printing large volumes of text presented in electronic format. In the age of computer technology, connecting to a computer and accessing the network plays a key role to provide advanced functions and the ability to quickly interact between different users. Therefore, printers were created - special peripheral devices that convert electronic documents into printed form.
Initially, inkjet versions were invented that use special ink cartridges in their design to apply text and images to paper. Since the invention of the first model to the present day, technology has undergone many changes. On store shelves you can find various versions: inkjet, laser, LED options.
Despite the use of advanced technologies, people still use early versions of products. However, they do not have the same performance as modern developments. They are in many ways inferior to new generation printers.
Developing your strengths
- Professionalism
One of the strengths of a person is the ability to improve in a chosen field. Experts recommend reading at least one book in your specialty every month.
- Analytical thinking, learning ability
These personality strengths are entirely dependent on the level of intelligence. It, in turn, is determined by genetic data and the training that has been received.
- Discipline
To increase your level of discipline, you need to learn how to motivate yourself.
- Hard work
Few people can boast that they have this quality from birth. A person starts work not because he is tired of idleness, but only because there is such a thing as “necessary”. Each completed action brings a feeling of satisfaction, which works as an excellent motivator.
- Patience
You can't get everything you want right away. Achieving a goal takes time. The ability to wait is a valuable character trait.
- Confidence, determination
These strengths come with acquired experience and skills. The more knowledge you have, the easier it is to follow your chosen path.
These human strengths can be supplemented by the following:
- Courage;
- Honesty;
- Responsiveness;
- Reliability;
People who have all these qualities can control their actions and desires and manage their lives.
Exercises to determine your personal capabilities
- Analyze your strengths and weaknesses. To do this, you need to remember which actions cause you the most positive emotions. Write them down in a notebook, starting from the most significant to those that are least pleasant.
- The next step will be a reassessment of values. Rethink your life beliefs to understand which ones are strengths and which are disadvantages.
- Remember the people whose opinions are valuable to you. Why do you respect them? What traits do they have? Do you have these virtues?
- Remember the last time you were happy? What was happening at that moment? Why were you happy?
- After studying your answers, try to find similarities in them. Those features that will be repeated in most answers are your ideals, what you strive for.
- Determine if your beliefs match your real life.
- Study what is an advantage and what is a disadvantage in the area in which you live and work.
- Determine whether the environment is optimal for your personality development.
- Conduct a survey in which you ask people who know you what characteristics you have.
- Having received answers from loved ones, you should find all the common points in them. Make a list of character traits that most people find in you.
- Make a self-portrait. You will end up with a deep characterization of personal qualities.
- Make a list of things you need to do to improve your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.
WordPress
In general, WordPress was originally created as a blogging engine, i.e. This was the perfect solution for creating a blog. But later, as its popularity developed and due to the emergence of a huge number of plugins, Wordpress turned into a real platform for creating full-fledged websites. Today on WordPress you can find sites of varying complexity, from a business card site to an online store.
I started working really closely with Wordpress right from the moment I created my blog, exactly the one you are on now. I wanted to do it on joomla first, because... I already knew Joomla just fine. But WordPress lured me in due to its popularity. I was just wondering why WordPress is used today to create blogs and websites. I created it on WordPress and I don’t regret it.
Advantages:
- simple, convenient and adaptive control panel
- a huge number of plugins to expand the out-of-the-box functionality
- a huge number of design themes (templates)
- ability to install plugins and themes directly from the admin panel
- huge community and documentation
- frequent updates - eliminating vulnerabilities, eliminating errors, etc.
- ability to update cms directly from the admin panel
- many nice useful features: it’s convenient to work in the control panel when creating notes - upload images, create internal links, insert videos into an article, while editing a note, the ability to show content only to the author, versioning of content (revisions), and much more. other...
As you can see, the list of advantages is very impressive. This is what I remember. If I discover anything, I will definitely add it to this list.
Flaws:
- high load on the server, however this applies to all popular and free systems
- due to its prevalence, wordpress becomes a target for hacking by hackers
- in my opinion, some things are very complicated compared to the same Joomla. For example, to transfer a website from a local server to hosting or vice versa, you need to change all the addresses in the database. Those. On hosting there is one domain, on LAN there is another. I don’t really understand why absolute addresses should be entered into the database. This moment just annoys me.
- Due to high load, page loading time decreases
- In my opinion, designing themes on WordPress is not very convenient. Why split the template into several parts: header, sidebar, single, etc.? Sometimes you open a tag in one file, but close it in another. If you don’t add a comment in time, then you won’t be able to figure out which closing tag belongs to what. But this is my opinion, maybe someone is even more satisfied with this...
- There is an opinion that search engines are, let’s say, not very friendly towards Wordpress. This is due to the fact that during the prosperity of satellite sites, all of them were practically created on Wordpress. But I fundamentally disagree with this. The search engine doesn’t care what your site runs on, the main thing is that it responds to user requests.
Here is the list. Despite its shortcomings, WordPress retains its leadership among free cms. Although, most of the shortcomings can still be solved.
Self improvement
Human shortcomings can only be overcome through constant development. Not only shortcomings, but also character strengths and talents cannot be ignored. They require improvement, because even the most outstanding abilities without daily training weaken over time.
Every person knows what he can do best. Therefore, only rare individuals do not pay attention to them and do not engage in self-development.
There are usually rarely problems with advantages. After all, there are a huge number of methods of self-development. And if desired, everyone can improve their abilities, make them brighter and more outstanding.
The situation is different with disadvantages. Everyone tends to downplay them in themselves. If you don’t see the problem, you can get along with it perfectly, but life will lose something important from this. You can stubbornly ignore your weaknesses and accept them, but developing as an individual and as a professional requires hard work.
Joomla
Basically, I create almost all projects, both my own and custom ones, using cms joomla. There are reasons for this. Joomla has advantages, no less than WordPress.
Advantages:
- simplicity and accessibility for a beginner. Joomla, despite its power, is a very easy to learn cms. Most likely, one of the reasons for its popularity is its simplicity and accessibility.
- quite functional and responsive control panel, and in the latest line of joomla 3.xx it is also adaptive, running on the twitter bootstrap framework.
- easy and simple installation that will not be a burden for a novice user
- the system is distributed free of charge under the GPL license
- richer and more flexible system customization for any needs, which cannot be said about WordPress
- a huge number of extensions: components, modules, plugins, templates
- This system is multilingual, i.e. Joomla allows us to create a website in several languages. I plan to devote a separate article to Joomla multilingualism. So stay tuned to the blog.
- frequent updates - eliminating vulnerabilities, eliminating errors, etc.
- ability to update cms directly from the admin panel
- The new version of Joomla 3.xx line has added a very powerful and functional template manager with the ability to create overrides and edit template files.
